Meets
The PSL meet schedule will
never be locked in stone. As our swimmers progress, we will continually
try to find the best opportunities (meets) for them to compete given
their training progress. Our meets will fall into one or more of the
below categories.
Target Meets.
These meets are the focus of the PSL training that we will be training
and preparing for and will offer the swimmer the best opportunity to
swim their best time in one or more strokes. Swimmers should consider
target meets as mandatory unless arrangements are made well in advance
in order to allow the coaches to modifying the training plan for the
individual. Training Meets. We will
train through most meets—though we have 10 meets throughout the SC
season; that does not mean each swimmer must attend all 10. Choose your own events (CYOE) Meets.
One or two 2 meets will be designated as CYOE meets. The coach will
only tell the swimmer the number of events required; the swimmer will
choose the specific events. Intra-squad Meets.
These meets may include limited outside participation. These meets are
critical to our training cycle. Intra–Squad meets provide an
opportunity for swimmers to establish training times, develop routines
for actual meets, and experiment with various techniques. Developmental Meets.
Primarily for the new swimmers (and their parents) to get them
acquainted with what to expect at their first meet. Since there will be
additional coaches on hand to answer all questions and walk through the
various aspects of a meet; attendance is highly encouraged.
Relays
Relays
will be based on the head coach’s discretion primarily using the best
times from target meets within the 05-06 SCY Season. In setting the
relays we generally will not consider times from training meets because
we know swimmers will not be fully recovered and at their racing peak.
- After Dec 31st relay lead off legs will be used for SES qualifying purposes.
- Swimmers
who leave the meet before relays are set or are no-shows will not be
considered for relays for the next two meets. This applies for the
entire season and to swimmers hoping to qualify for SES by swimming
lead-off legs for qualifying time.
- At the
head coach’s discretion, any swimmer who develops a trend of missing
relays will be eliminated from competing in all future relays for the
duration of the season.
SES Relays
- Relays
are set if 4 swimmers qualify for SES prior to Districts, a swimmer
qualifying with a faster time at districts will not bump a swimmer
previously qualified for a relay.
- If 4 swimmers qualify for SES at Districts the relay is set at Districts
- If
2 or 3 swimmers qualify prior to or at Districts then the individual(s)
with the next fastest (non qualifying time) will be invited to attend
SES Championships as long as their time is within 1.5 seconds of the
qualifying standard. (Minimum 2 SES qualifiers per relay.)
