Dobbs & Frost Win Seven Events Each to Lead NAC in Knoxville!
More than 130 Nashville Aquatic Club swimmers competed this past weekend at the 25th Annual Volunteer In vitational in Knoxville. NAC was led by 12 year olds Chatham Dobbs and Riley Frost who won seven individual events each. Frost achieved three new NAC Top 10 perormances while Dobbs added one of his own. Emma Blackwood, 11, also swam to three new NAC Top 10 Performances. Swimmers winning individual events for NAC were:  Emma Blackwood (3x), Parker Camp (1x), Chatham Dobbs (7x), Riley Frost (7x), Megan Goss (4x), Anna Grainger (1x), Elizabeth Grainger (1x), Dakota Hodgson (1x), Deirdre Jones (1x), Chase Lovelace (1x), and Jarvis Werkhaven (1x).  NAC Relays swam to ten new NAC Top 10 Performances and eight event wins. Overall NAC swimmers won 38 events, swam to 17 new NAC Top 10 performances, and achieved 50 new Southeastern Qualifying Times.  Statistics from the meet can be found by clicking here
NAC Alum Paul Crook Named NCAA Division III National Swimmer of the Week!

Washington and Lee senior Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) has been named the Men's Division III National Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com for the week ending Oct. 19. The eight-time All-American won the 200 free (1:44.15) and established a new meet record in the 500 free with a time of 4:47.99 as the W&L men's swimming team defeated Mary Washington, 170-92, on Saturday. In addition, Crook had a hand in two relay wins as the 400 free relay won with a time of 3:18.67, while the the 200 medley team recorded a 1:38.53 in victory.
NAC Wins a Very Competitive October Open - Sophie Pilkinton Wins 6 Events!
NAC swimmers claimed a hard fought victory over some very strong swim clubs from across the Southeast this weekend at the 2008 October Open this weekend at Centennial Sortsplex. The meet drew more than 900 swimmers from Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Iowa, Indiana, and Kentucky. NAC was led by 12 year old Sophie Pilkinton who won six individual events and led the 11-12 Girls to victories in both the 200 Free and 200 Medley Relays. NAC All-Time Top 10 performances were achieved by Emma Blackwood (11-12 Girls 50 Breast & 100 Breast), and Ophelia Pilkinton (8&Under Girls 25 Free & 50 Free). Additional swimmers winning individual events for NAC were:  Emma Blackwood (2x), Brian Bolton (1x), Parker Camp (1x), Paschall Davis (1x), Andrew Dobbs (2x), Erika Giuse (4x), Dakota Hodgson (2x), Deirdre Jones (1x), Ophelia Pilkinton (3x), and Caroline Reeves (1x).  Overall NAC swimmers won 28 events, swam to 4 new NAC Top 10 performances, and achieved 54 new Southeastern Qualifying Times.  Click here for more.
Three NAC Swimmers Earn USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Honors!
Nashville Aquatic Club swimmers Kellyn Angell, Alexandra Pierce, and Paschall Davis were recently named 2007-2008 USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans.
Criteria for selection to the Scholastic All-America Team include the following: must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade, must be a USA Swimming member athlete, Must have participated in an individual event that met the Junior National Bonus Time Standard during the qualifying period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008, and must have achieved a 3.5 GPA. Additionally, swimmers who competed in an individual event in the 2007 National Disability Championships or the 2007 Open Water National Championships and met the academic, grade level and membership requirements were eligible to apply.Congratulations to our Scholastic All-Americans!
Curtis Lovelace, Coach John Morse Earn Top Southeastern Swimming LSC Honors!
Nashville Aquatic Club swimmer Curtis Lovelace and Head Coach John Morse were awarded as Southeastern Swimming LSC's Swimmer of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively at the 2008 Southeastern Swimming Hall of Fame Weekend in Orange Beach. Lovelace earned the honor behind a strong season in which he was a member of USA Swimming's National Junior Team, was a top 24 finisher at the 2008 Olympic Trials, swam the fastest 100 yard Breaststroke in the nation for High School Boys, and broke several State High School, Southeastern LSC, and NAC Team Records.Curtis is currently a Freshman at Stanford University. Coach John Morse earned the top LSC coaching honors for the fifth time behind a year full of honors and awards for NAC's longtime Head Coach. Morse was an assistant coach on the 2007-2008 USA Swimming National Junior Team and was recently awarded USA Swimming's Developmental Coach of the Year Award. Morse led a team record fourteen swimmers to the 2008 USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials in Omaha this summer as well as securing the team's 35th LSC Championship. NAC was also awarded as a USA Swimming Club Excellence Program Gold Medal Club for the seventh consecutive year recognizing the top swimming programs in the United States. Congratulations to both Curtis Lovelace and Coach John Morse!
