Santa
Rosa Island Triathlon GPAC swimmers couldn't have asked for
better conditions for their first triathlon. The calm
gulf, the perfect temperature, and hardly a breeze, led to great performances by
the tri newbie's. The race started at 7:35am with all the Elite athletes
and our 15 and under GPAC'ers swimming a 600+ yard course in the gulf.
After the open water swim, they ran up the beach to the bike racks in the
parking lot. Once on their bikes they rode an 18 mile course with over 600
other triathletes. Coming in from the bike leg, they now faced a 3 mile
run through the Pensacola Beach neighborhoods. Everyone finished strong
and a good time was had by all.
